About The Tarboro Area

Tarboro, NC is located about a 30 minute drive from Greenville and Rocky Mount as well as 55 miles away from Raleigh- Durham with a population of over 11,000. Tarboro was chartered in 1760, on a bend of the Tar River. It was once a thriving trade century until the Civil War.

Tarboro is rich in history and is the home of many historical churches and original storefronts, some dating back to the 19th century. The 45 block Tarboro Historic District has over 300 contributing structures from houses to churches along the Tarboro's Main Street. The beginning of this is the Tarboro Town Common, a 15 acre park and is considered the second-oldest legislated town common in the country. So while you are out exploring its history, be sure to check out Tarboro Brewing Company and enjoy a nice meal at On The Square. And end your day at The Links at Cotton Valley for some outdoor fun.
